One feature of this year's series is the impact of sustainable lighting on the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Environmental & Energy Design (LEED) program, a design guideline for green buildings. LEED-certified Philips professionals will discuss how low-mercury lighting can assist buildings in earning LEED credits. "As an environmental leader in manufacturing, Philips Lighting is in the unique position to share its knowledge of sustainable practices with other companies," said Steve Goldmacher, Director of Corporate Communications, Philips Lighting Company. "It is increasingly important for professionals involved in the design, construction and operation of buildings to become well-versed in sustainable design as the movement continues to grow." Attending the seminar in one of the cities this year will qualify AIA members for 1.0 AIA/CES Learning Unit/HSW. The seminars are also open to licensed architects who are not members of the AIA and other building professionals. After the AIA-accredited one-hour sustainability class concludes, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about advances in lighting technology, segment trends, applications for the future and Philips Lighting innovations, such as ALTO(r) lamp technology.
