Blazer Electric Supply Co., Colorado Springs, Colo., held the Blazer Benefit 2 Golf Tournament to raise money for contractor training.

Blazer Electric Supply Co., Colorado Springs, Colo., held the Blazer Benefit 2 Golf Tournament on Aug. 12 at Bear Dance Golf Club, Larkspur, Colo. The proceeds of $20,000 were split between the contractor training programs and scholarship fund for the local chapters of Independents Electrical Contractors and the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Representatives from those organizations along with Blazer Electric Supply employees, customers and vendors participated in the event.

The title sponsor was ABB, and other major sponsors were Southwire, The Lighting Agency, Illumination Systems, I-Pro and Thomas & Betts.

“We know that in order to keep the contractor industry strong, these two organizations must be able to recruit and train the young people entering the work force,” said Steve Blazer, the company’s president in a press release. “Some need help paying for that training and couldn’t pursue this trade without assistance. The schools have tight training budgets and need to continually in training equipment. We want to be a company that gives something back to our industry to help sustain its future. We plan to make this an annual event and to increase our support.

Blazer Electric Supply says it’s the only locally-owned, independent electrical distributor in its market area. In addition to its Colorado Spring headquarters location, the company has a branch in Pueblo, Colo. Blazer Electric Supply was ranked #139 on Electrical Wholesaling’s 2014 ranking of the industry’s 200 largest electrical distributors with $40 million in 2013 annual sales and 74 employees.
