Cooper Electric Supply Co., Tinton Falls, N.J., a subsidiary of Sonepar USA, supplied the lighting for the new Meadowlands Stadium through its Commercial Lighting team. The stadium, located in East Rutherford, N.J., will host Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 and is home to the N.Y. Giants and N.Y. Jets. The stadium is designed to accommodate 82,500 spectators with parking for 27,500 vehicles. It covers 2.1 million square feet with over 800 concessions and its own rail line.

Cooper Electric provided all lighting for the stadium, including interior, site, suite and field lighting. By partnering with its lighting manufacturers, Cooper Electric was able to deliver up-to-date, energy-efficient lighting solutions for the stadium.

“This entire project was a complete team effort from start to finish. It was a great opportunity for all involved.” said Joe Tobia, sales account executive, Cooper Electric Supply.

Cooper Electric's Commercial Lighting team was also involved 30 years ago in providing lighting to the original stadium. “Lighting technology has come a long way since Cooper was involved in lighting the original stadium,” said Sal Locicero, vice president, Cooper Electric Commercial Lighting Department. “It was exciting to be part of the first project, and even more exciting to be part of the team for the second project.”
