Eaton celebrated the 75th anniversary of manufacturing at its South Milwaukee facility on October 1, 2016. The Eaton facility manufactures Cooper Power series automatic reclosers, controls and pad-mounted switchgear for utility, commercial and industrial applications. The facility manufactured the first automatic circuit recloser technology to the electric utility industry, which helps automatically restore service after momentary outages.

“Our South Milwaukee facility has a legacy of innovation and manufacturing excellence supporting our customers in building a more adaptable and responsive infrastructure,” said Nilesh Sivaramakrishnan, plant manager of Eaton’s Cooper Systems South Milwaukee facility. “The technology manufactured in South Milwaukee is among the most reliable in the industry and thousands of our customers have relied on our reclosers for more than 50 years.”

Eaton commemorated the 75th anniversary with a celebration attended by the mayor of South Milwaukee, Erik Brooks, and more than 600 current and retired employees at Grant Park, South Milwaukee on October 1. During the event, Eaton employees took part in a United Way fundraiser. Additionally, the contents from a 25-year-old time capsule were on display, including shells manufactured at the facility during World War II, images and information about the state-of-the-art vacuum recloser technology designed to reduce maintenance requirements for distribution system protection, and historical facility and product artifacts.
