General Cable, Highland Heights, Ky., launched a new collection of interactive e-catalogs on its web site, www.generalcable.com. Designed to be “immersive, intelligent and powerfully simple,” the catalogs allow General Cable's customers to work faster and smarter and stay up-to-date on the company's products and services while helping General Cable in its “green” effort to reduce paper usage.

With the use of features such as replicating the page turning of a traditional print catalog, as well as a multitude of unique functions that bring the pages to life, technical product information is delivered with the click of a mouse to current and potential customers. Users can click on any of the 16 catalog thumbnails to initiate the interactive search capabilities; look up product and technical information; share pages with a colleague; print or download a page, range of pages or the entire catalog; and even review a product-related video right on the page where the product resides.

“By delivering unlimited content in real-time, General Cable will improve its efficiency by guiding new and existing customers to the right products and information,” says Lisa Lawson, vice president of corporate communications. “Our customers will work faster and more accurately, locating the information they need to complete specifications or place orders. The preliminary feedback on the interactive e-catalogs has been very positive.”
