It’s been said that the electrical industry is much like Devil’s Island and that once you get on, you never leave, but 58 years? Wow!

Jay Rains of Rains Electrical Sales, a Shawnee, Ks.-based independent manufacturers’ rep, started his electrical career in 1955 with Rensenhouse Electric Supply, and worked for Kansas City Electrical Supply and Shaw Electric Supply Co. before signing on as a salesperson with Western Extralite in 1961. He worked for Western Extralite for 14 years, eventually becoming the company’s sales manager. He left the company to become a rep in 1975, and started up Rains Sales in 1988.
