Panduit Corp., Tinley Park, Ill., was recently chosen to provide network connectivity solutions for the entire area-wide enterprise of the Houston Independent School District (HISD), Houston, Texas.

The Houston Independent School District is the largest public school system in Texas and the seventh largest in the United States. HISD operates 289 campuses with an enrollment of more than 211,000 students. The mission of the HISD Technology and Information Systems Department is to enhance the teaching/learning process through technology by providing an infrastructure that is widely and easily available to students, teachers, staff and administrative personnel.

The Panduit Network Connectivity System for HISD included over 100,000 Category 5e and 50,000 CATV drops. Pan-Way Twin-70 and Type LD Nonmetallic Surface Raceway Systems, Panduit Category 5e Keystone Modules, Mini-Com and Mini-Jack Category 5e Modules and Panduit 24-Part Patch Panels were used to deliver CATV and network cabling into every classroom and office.

Don Corker, HISD director, Wide Area Networking, comments, “With Panduit modular connectivity products, we get a high-performance system that offers the flexibility of filling our existing port space with Panduit's keystone-style modules, while using the high-density Mini-Com System on all new installations.”
