National Lighting Bureau (NLB) (Silver Spring, Md.): James Yorgey, Lutron Electronics Co.’s technical applications manager, has been elected chair of the National Lighting Bureau, the independent, not-for-profit, lighting-education foundation sponsored by professional societies, trade associations, manufacturers, utilities and agencies of the U.S. government. Mark Lien, Osram Sylvania’s government and industry relations director was elected vice chair, and Cary Mendelsohn, Imperial Lighting Maintenance Co. (representing the International Association of Lighting Management Companies (NALMCO), was elected secretary/treasurer.
Yorgey joined Lutron in 1974 and has held numerous positions in the quality control, engineering, marketing and sales departments. In his current role, he supports Lutron’s sales and marketing groups throughout the mid-Atlantic region. He provides technical support for the integration of lighting, lighting controls and window treatments into commercial spaces. A long-time member of NLB’s board of directors, Yorgey has been involved in lighting education at Parsons School of Architecture in New York and the INFOCOMM Institute for Professional Development. He is actively involved in the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) and a variety of other technical and community organizations. He has an engineering degree from Penn State.
