Ballast Training now Approved by the NCQLP Jul 1, 2006 12:00 PM The National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) has accepted the ballast training courses offered through Advance Transformer Co.'s Advance University Web site as approved curriculum. Completion of these training courses will qualify NCQLP members for lighting education units (LEUs) within the organization's LC (Lighting Certified) program. Developed by the Rosemont, Ill.-based ballast manufacturer, Advance University is an online ballast-training program currently offering three course levels. The first level covers ballast basics; the second features ballast troubleshooting techniques as well as an introduction to many newer lighting technologies. The third level provides an overview of the Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) lighting standard and its use in creating new lighting designs. Each level consists of 10 or more lessons and is followed by a short quiz. Advance University is accessible from Advance's Web site at www.advancetransformer.com/university and is open for enrollment to anyone free of charge. To date, more than 8,000 students have benefited from this industry site. Acceptable Use Policy blog comments powered by Disqus |
