Connector manufacturer Burndy, Manchester, N.H., rolled out its new “Certified Green Idle” tractor-trailer, which you might see shuttling around New Hampshire between the company's manufacturing plants in Littleton and Lincoln, N.H., and its central distribution center in Londonderry, N.H.

The new truck features what Burndy refers to as “Certified Green Idle” technology and is said to be one of the first of its kind in the United States to meet 2010 emissions standards. The tractor-trailer uses an auxiliary power system to generate power for cab heating, cab cooling and operating ancillary cab appliances, and can be used to heat the engine block in cold weather and recharge the vehicle's battery using only a fraction of the fuel that would be used by idling the vehicle's primary engine.

The Burndy delivery truck that travels between the company's Bethel, Conn., foundry and the Londonderry distribution center has similar graphics, which highlight the company's core products and markets and its stature as a New England-based U.S. manufacturer.
