Code Connection serves contractors

Every contractor needs to stay current on code changes. Distributors can now help them keep up with the most current mandates with Leviton Manufacturing Co.'s "Code Connection" program. The Little Neck, N.Y.-based company is offering this three-part program as an incentive for contractors to learn more about the National Electrical Code and to encourage more contact between distributors and these customers.

The three parts of the program include Learning Labs, Code Talk at the Counter and Code Fax.

The Learning Lab examines common code issues that electricians face regularly and presents solutions for eliminating code violations and increasing electrical safety. More than 20 sections of the U.S. NEC are covered. The Lab can cover industrial, commercial or residential applications, or all environments.

In Code Talk at the Counter, a code-related question is displayed each week during the promotion period on a large banner at distributors' sales counters. When customers answer the code question, it opens the door for distributor salespeople to give a mini-presentation on the appropriate Leviton products related to that week's question.

Code Fax provides distributors with a way of staying in touch with customers via fax. Leviton provides a Code-Fax diskette containing code questions, and distributors simply drop in their own logo and fax the code questions to their customers. The first ten correct responses win a free nail apron. Winners are told to stop by and pick up their prize (which gets them in the door). The following week, distributors fax out the correct answer to the previous week's question and pose a new question.
