There continues to be a steady flow of contract awards for electrical contractors for construction projects at government facilities funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). As has been the case for much of the past year, the bulk of the contract awards for electrical contractors published at www.fbo.gov have been with the Department of Veteran Affairs, the Army Corps of Engineers and other branches of the military.

On Feb. 2, E.W. Wells Group, Dallas, won a contract for $1,923,967 from the Army Corps of Engineers office in Tulsa, Okla., for the Red River Chloride Control Project, which includes the installation of a control system with 26.8 miles of fiber optic cable encased in conduit.

Valor Construction Management, Pahokee, Fla., won a contract from the Department of Veteran Affairs on Jan. 28 for $213,481.75 to upgrade the electrical distribution system at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The Department of Veterans Affairs also recently awarded a set-aside contract for service disabled veteran-owned businesses valued at more than $2 million to B.R. Construction LLC, Gardnerville, Nev., for work at the VA Medical Center, Bath, N.Y. The project entails replacing the facility's electrical distribution system, including the construction of a new medium-voltage ductbank, manhole and cable systems to serve the existing campus buildings.
