Dakota Electric Supply Co., Fargo, N.D., agreed to buy all assets of Plainsco, Inc., Aberdeen, S.D.

Dakota Electric has five branches in South and North Dakota. Plainsco has four branches in South Dakota. Combined 1998 sales exceeded $80 million, said Ben Herr, chief executive officer of Dakota Electric.

Dakota Electric will restructure its operations and plans to consolidate some locations following the acquisition, Herr said. Dakota Electric and Plainsco both have branches in Aberdeen and Sioux Falls, S.D. Dakota Electric plans to close its Aberdeen facility to merge with Plainsco's operations there. Details on the Sioux Falls branches have not been finalized.

The Plainsco branches will continue to operate under the Plainsco name. Dennis Logan, chief executive officer of Plainsco, will continue to work for the company.
