Dark Sky Brochure Outlines Solutions to Light Pollution Feb 1, 2006 12:00 PM This eight-page full-color “Dark Sky” brochure reviews the increasingly prevalent problem of light pollution and the ways that Allscape's 3D outdoor lighting visualization software can help. California's 2005 version of its Title 24 Energy Code includes new strict provisions for outdoor lighting for nonresidential buildings. Many other states are likewise enacting light pollution legislation to regulate light in both commercial and residential areas. The brochure provides examples of how the lighting industry at large is addressing light pollution. It also reviews the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, which gives incentive to building planners to eliminate light trespass and reduce development impact on nocturnal environments. Copies of the brochure are available from Allscape, Santa Ana, Calif. Contact the manufacturer at (800) 854-8277 or via e-mail at alllighting@earthlink.net. Got an Item for Bulletin Board?
