DIMMER DISPLAY WINS MERCHANDISING AWARD ELECTRICAL WHOLESALING STAFF Dec 1, 2000 12:00 PM Leviton Manufacturing Co., Little Neck, N.Y., and Thomson Leeds Co. Inc., New York, N.Y., which designs and produces POP advertising materials, were jointly awarded the 2000 Silver Outstanding Merchandising Award (OMA) by the Point of Purchase Advertising Institute for Leviton's new Modular Dimmer display. The interactive display was designed to communicate the features, functions and advantages of Leviton's new line of dimmers. According to Peter Massaro, Leviton's merchandising manager, "The modular design of this display lets users set up the individual dimmer panels in a variety of ways that make sense for their selling environment. The display can be set up on pegboard, slatwall and gondola shelves or used as a stand-alone stackable merchandiser with two, three or four panels." Perfect for selling environments where customers enjoy being able to see and touch products before committing to a purchase decision, the lighting-controls display allows customers to see how light levels respond when they slide the slide bar on a slide dimmer and touch the keypad on a touch dimmer. The display houses three separate dimmers in each panel and shows a high-end residential application scene on a light box to which the dimmers are wired. Panels are available for architectural, scene, touch and traditional dimmer - with multi-location control features highlighted. The panels connect to one another via a small plug in back of each module, eliminating the need for multiple wall outlets. "The display helps heighten awareness among consumers of how dimmers can be used to decorate with light while saving on lighting energy costs," Massaro added.
