ELECTRIC PALM TREES CAN LIGHT UP ANY YARD Mar 1, 2003 12:00 PM From this month's “Why Didn't I Think of That?” department comes a most unusual new product launch: electric palm trees. Fibertechnics Inc., Woodland Hills, Calif., a developer of decorative lighting systems recently hit the market with its line of electric palm trees. The “trees” have animated tropical lighting systems that range in size from 9 feet to over 15 feet in palm leave diameter and up to 20 feet in height. The trees come in hot tropical colors or natural colors and are designed for indoor and outdoor use. The 220V lighting system powering the trees incorporates small light bulbs spaced less than an inch apart for a flowing lighting effect. The lights have an operating life of over 10,000 hours. Okay, so electric palm trees are a bit unusual, and your neighbors probably wouldn't want you to install any in your front yard. But if you check out the company's Web site at www.fiber-technics.com, I think you will agree that the palms do have a certain zany appeal. Got an Item for Bulletin Board?
