Electrician Wins Chopper at Electric West Apr 1, 2005 12:00 PM Jay Leno and electrician Daniel Mesa have something in common; they both own one-of-a-kind bikes built by Orange County Chopper, renowned by Discovery Channel's “American Chopper the Series.” Mesa, who works for M&M Electric in Las Vegas, won his bike as the grand-prize winner of Ideal Industries' “Born to be Wired Sweepstakes.” Mesa was one of five finalists awarded a free trip to Electric West in Anaheim, Calif., to take a turn at starting the chopper's engine. Mesa randomly selected the winning key that started the bike. As the engine roared, he pumped his fist, and the crowd cheered him on. Mesa was one of thousands of electricians nationwide who entered the sweepstakes by purchasing specially marked packages of Ideal wire connectors. The Ideal Chopper features a RevTech 100-cubic-inch engine, a custom paint job and lots of chrome. The Ideal logo is prominently displayed on the bike's gas tank, fenders and embroidered into the seat. The valve stem covers are uniquely machined to look like Twister Wire Connectors. Ideal Industries Inc., Sycamore, Ill., has been serving the electrical industry since 1916. Acceptable Use Policy blog comments powered by Disqus |
