Columbia Electric Supply, Brockton, Mass., put on a promotion for its youngest customers to enjoy at three locations in Massachusetts — Brockton, Taunton and Fall River. Coloring books and electrical supplies might seem like an odd combination, but this company made the connection in an effort to appeal to families.

Approximately 402 children ages 12 and younger participated in Columbia's holiday coloring contest. For simply turning in a coloring-book drawing of his or her favorite Sponge Bob character, each participant received a McDonald's gift certificate. The winners of various age group took home a $50 Toys “R” Us gift certificate, and winners' parents received a coupon worth 10 percent off their next Lightolier purchase.
