GOOD READS

Feb 1, 2003 12:00 PM

Based on the purchases of more than 10,000 corporate customers of 800-CEO-READ, these business books topped the list.

  1. Execution, by Larry Bossidy and Ram Charan. Closing the gap between visions and results in the workplace.

  2. The Leadership Moment, by Michael Useem. Nine true stories of triumph and disaster and their lessons for us all.

  3. Good to Great, by Jim Collins. How run-of-the-mill companies make the leap to excellence.

  4. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen R. Covey. First published in 1990, the book continues to be a big seller.

  5. The Cycle of Leadership, by Noel M. Tichy and Nancy Cardwell. How great leaders teach their companies to win.

No. 3 on this list, Good to Great, comes with a strong recommendation at the NAED Region 1 Conference. Michael Workman, Professor Emeritus of the Industrial Distribution faculty at Texas A&M University, mentioned the book in his session on creating a balanced scorecard to run your business.
