The year was 1969. With the price of gas at 35 cents a gallon, the muscle-car era was in full force.

To celebrate those glory days, Ideal Industries' “Twice The Muscle, Twice The Power” sales promotion will award one lucky electrical-distributor customer a restored 1969 Dodge Charger, featuring a custom paint job and a big block 425HP 440 engine.

The promotion also awards Ideal distributors who place qualifying orders of Ideal and Buchanan brand wire connectors with ultra-cool collectables: 1:18 scale die-cast replicas of two American muscle car classics, the 1969 Dodge Charger and the 1971 Plymouth Barracuda.

Made famous as the General Lee from the “Dukes of Hazard” television series, the 1969 Dodge Charger is instantly recognizable by its center grille divider and wedge-form design. The 1969 Charger was offered in several models including the Charger, the Charger R/T, the Charger 500 with a 426 Hemi engine built to NASCAR requirements, and the Charger Daytona with its bullet shaped front cap and giant rear deck spoiler engineered specifically to race in the Daytona 500.

The 1971 Plymouth Barracuda, better known to car fanatics as the 'cuda, was considered to be Chrysler's last serious entry into the muscle car craze. Built by the Plymouth division of Chrysler from 1964 to 1974, it originally was a pony car designed to compete with the Ford Mustang. In the late '60s, Plymouth upgraded its engine options and began to offer the 383 B and the huge 440 RB with six-pack carburetion. In 1970, the famous 426 Hemi engine was introduced, forever establishing the 'cuda as one of highest performance muscle cars on the road.

For a chance to win the restored Dodge Charger, electricians need only purchase specially marked bags of Ideal Twister, Wing-Nut or Buchanan B-CAP wire connectors with scratch-off game pieces inside. Five lucky winners will receive an XM satellite radio with one-year service subscription, along with a trip for two to the 2006 Electric West tradeshow in Las Vegas March 1-3. Once there, each winner will select one of five keys that may (or may not) start the car. Whoever is holding the winning key drives it home.
