Intuit Eclipse, Shelton, Conn., has become a Texas A&M University ERP/Distribution Benchmarking Process Participant as part of a newly developed initiative to help standardize a number of key business processes in the warehouse distribution industry. In that role, Intuit Eclipse — a provider of business management software for wholesale distributors — becomes one of the founding members of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Consortium at Texas A&M.

As a participant in the initiative, the company will be one of several ERP software providers making their systems available for testing and use by members of the Texas A&M Industrial Distribution Program. A key objective of the study is to publish a proposed set of benchmarks that will help industry practitioners prepare to select, adopt and use an ERP system.

Those benchmarks will help establish a common platform for matching distribution processes with a variety of software offerings and allow the ERP Consortium to quantify the potential return on investment for ERP implementation. The initiative, which began Aug. 1, is expected to complete the ERP system evaluation and benchmarking process by March 31, 2003.
