iPhone App for Electricians

Feb 1, 2010 12:00 PM

In the world of iPhone users, they've developed a catch-phrase: “There's an app for that.” With tens of thousands of iPhone applications in the iTunes App Store and more being added all the time, the catch-phrase is usually accurate. And now there's an app for electricians.

A company called Carry-On Software has released an app called “The Electrician's Helper” that the developers say “takes the hassle out of looking up electrical codes and doing complex calculations for installations.”

The application does things like calculate voltage, current and power in three-phase and wye circuits; find the ampacity of a conductor using NEC tables; calculate voltage drop; help with raceway sizing, motor specifications, conduit bend radius and all kinds of other calculations.

You can find out more from the Carry-On Software web page: www.carry-onsoftware.com/page2/page2.html.
