Legrand to purchase Greyfox Systems By Dale Funk, Contributing Editor Jul 1, 2001 12:00 PM Continuing its march into the home-networking market, Legrand North America, Syracuse, N.Y., has acquired Greyfox Systems Inc., Carnegie, Pa. Details of the transaction were not available at press time. The acquisition follows a year-and-a-half relationship between Legrand and Greyfox, who supplied Pass & Seymour with the panel that it used in its home networking product line. Under the new ownership arrangement, Greyfox will continue to operate as a separate entity and will continue to use dealers and system integrators, in contrast to Pass & Seymour, which markets its products through electrical distributors. Legrand has had a strong presence in voice/data and residential structured wiring products with brands including Wiremold, a leader in wire management and cabling systems, and Ortronics, a manufacturer of premise wiring connectivity products. Greyfox is a leader and pioneer in the design and manufacture of advanced home networks. The Greyfox system features a scalable and flexible network architecture that can support high-bandwidth, two-way voice, video and data communication. Doug Bottego, Legrand North America's chief financial officer, said the home-networking market has a lot of upside potential. “It's one of the most opportunistic markets we could be in. Long-term this is a fantastic market,” he said. Acceptable Use Policy blog comments powered by Disqus |
