LEVITON LIGHTING-CONTROL DISPLAY WINS DESIGN AWARD Mar 1, 2004 12:00 PM Leviton's new lighting control tower display won the POP Times magazine “Design of the Times” award. In a reception dinner at the POP (Point of Purchase) show held at New York's Javits Convention Center in December, the new lighting control tower display was selected by a panel of 72 judges from more than 400 competitive displays as one of the gold-level award recipients. The innovative tower display showcases Leviton's full offering of touch, rotary, slide and toggle dimmers. In addition, a Decora Home Controls (DHC) programmer with two receivers demonstrates how to automate lighting control throughout a house. The display's distinctive pale-blue lighted dome distinguishes it from conventional “white light” displays and instantly attracts attention. Consumers are invited to view, touch and operate each dimmer with the aid of convenient, easy-to-understand operating instructions located above each dimming unit. Soft glow panel lights above each dimmer brighten and dim to demonstrate how each dimmer responds when its control mechanism is activated. The display, designed for use in lighting showrooms, offers a 360-degree viewing field for location anywhere in-store and measures 30 inches in diameter with a height of 82 inches. Its powder coated metal surface resists scratches and fingerprints. Four drop-down panels facilitate device, card and bulb change outs. Convenient storage pockets hold “take-one” literature, which showcases each dimmer and presents a detailed listing of features and benefits.
