LUCKY ELECTRICAL PRO WINS A HARLEY

Ferraz Shawmut, Newburyport, Mass., announced the grand prize winner of its “Zoom In With SmartSpot” sweepstakes.

The promotion, a “scratch and win” marketing campaign, showcased the Ferraz Shawmut's SmartSpot open-fuse indicator, a fast way to find and replace open fuses and cut costly downtime.

Game cards were available last summer in electrical industry publications and through local Ferraz Shawmut distributors nationwide.

From among the almost a million game cards distributed across the country, Stephen King of Kansas City was randomly selected as the winner of the sweepstakes' grand prize, a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

With more than 10 years of experience in the electrical industry, King currently serves as chief estimator for Mark One Electric Co., one of the Kansas City area's top electrical contractors specializing in residential, commercial and industrial and manufacturing applications.

Fittingly, the Harley-Davidson manufacturing plant in Kansas City is a Mark One client, and King's tour of the facility just prior to his entering the SmartSpot sweepstakes had sparked interest in getting a Harley of his own.

“I had wanted to get a Harley for some time, but it was never really within the budget,” remarked King. “Then one day last summer my local Ferraz Shawmut representative stopped by and gave me a free Zoom In game card. I filled it out and didn't give it a second thought until I was notified that I had won the grand-prize drawing. This is a fantastic surprise.”

King said that Mark One often specifies SmartSpot fuses because they're big time savers. “When a fuse opens, our electricians can just open the panel, locate it, and replace it to get the system back online,” said King. “So our customers are up and running quickly and our electricians can move on to the next task — it's a win-win.”

In addition to the grand prize of a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Ferraz Shawmut's promotion awarded thousands of other instant-win prizes, including two-way radios, junior PDAs, spotlights, barbecue sets and multi-tool sets.

“The Zoom In With SmartSpot sweepstakes has helped generate a groundswell of new interest in our SmartSpot product line,” said Ken Hooper, senior vice president of sales for Ferraz Shawmut.
