LURALINE DONATES TO ILL KIDS' RACING-THEMED CAMP

Feb 1, 2005 12:00 PM

After providing lights for the construction of the Victory Junction Gang Camp, Luraline Products Co., Opa Locka, Fla., was spurred to make a donation as well. Luraline matched a monetary donation made to the camp by its sales representative on the job, Peter Glass & Associates of North Carolina, Concord, N.C.

The Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, N.C., strives to enrich the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses by creating memorable camping experiences.

Serving children from 7 to 15 years old, the cost of the camp is free to the children and families who attend. Operating the Victory Junction Camp costs an estimated $2.7 million annually. The not-for-profit organization relies upon contributions to meet operating costs.

Although Victory Junction is called a “camp,” most people don't understand the complexities involved in accommodating children with a variety of special needs. The campus includes fully staffed medical facilities.

Designed around the theme of auto racing, Victory Junction opened in June 2004. The camp was founded by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty as well as Petty's wife, Pattie Petty; and actor Paul Newman.

Luraline's wall-mount lighting fixtures in custom purple-and-yellow combinations were installed in the “Fuel Stop” cafeteria and the sports and recreation areas. Bright red fixtures were installed in the “Body Shop” medical center.
