Lutron Technology Behind Corian Display Center

Oct 1, 2009 12:00 PM

DuPont's new Corian Design Studio in the Flatiron district of New York City is an interactive workshop where designers, builders and customers can consult with experts to create “inspirational environments” with Corian and Zodiaq surfaces.

The studio's lighting is controlled by technologies from Lutron Electronics Co., Coopersburg, Pa. Both daylight and electric light in the 5,000 square-foot space are controlled by Lutron's GRAFIK Eye QS customizable lighting and shade control. The beautiful views of Manhattan are maintained by utilizing Lutron Sivoia QS roller shades operated through the GRAFIK Eye QS, giving occupants the ability to manage the total light experience from a single location.

One standout design feature is the “starry sky” lighting, featuring 74 pieces of thermoformed Corian, where the stars above connect visitors to the application vignettes within the studio. The studio also has real-life applications for a variety of market environments ranging from operating rooms, feature walls, hospitality, education and residential applications for lighting and other design elements.

“DuPont is an industry leader that has created a marvelous showcase in which to work and dream,” says Eric Lind, Lutron's director of strategic business development. “We're glad to see the creative way that Lutron light controls are being used to help create this experience for the design community.”
