A growing number of schools and universities are beginning to address the changes the Internet is bringing to the business world. The global electronic marketplace has thrown businesses into a fierce battle for college graduates who are technically savvy and can lead the way in the electronic commerce revolution. Early recruiters have been companies seeking specialists who can launch Web sites, build secure interactive transaction systems, and create direct marketing packages for the Internet.

Although electronic commerce has not yet been precisely defined or recognized as a discipline, universities such as Harvard College, Duke University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and others are creating curricula around the new interactive medium to prepare students to meet the demands of competing in the world of cyber-business.
