Mid-State Supply Donates Generator

Sep 1, 2010 12:00 PM

Back in May, Mid-State Supply Co., Alexandria, La., was approached by Debra Ainsworth, donor recruiter for LifeShare Blood Center, about participating in the blood center's June 2010 Hurricane Preparedness blood-drive campaign. The folks at Mid-State Supply, seeing this as a worthy cause with a direct impact on the community, agreed to donate a Generac GP5500 portable generator that would be given away to one lucky donor.

The June campaign included 134 mobile blood drives in 13 area parishes where LifeShare collected 2,860 red blood cell units, exceeding the group's goal by 4 percent. Each unit of blood can save three lives, and based on that ratio, the Hurricane Preparedness campaign collected enough red blood cell units to save 8,580 lives.
