NAED INTRODUCES TRAIN-THE-TRAINER

Apr 1, 2004 12:00 PM

The NAED Education & Research Foundation has developed a new resource to help companies manage an effective Electrical Products Education Course (EPEC) training program for their employees. A self-study program with three levels and 15 modules, the EPEC training program helps electrical distributors gain comprehensive product knowledge and a complete understanding of how complex electrical systems interrelate.

Because EPEC takes the average student about two years to complete, the EPEC Train-the-Trainer resource was developed to help the management contacts guide students through the completion of EPEC.

“We've always supported the efforts of management contacts to encourage and assist students as they go through the course, but we wanted to take it a step further,” says Michelle Jaworowski, vice president of NAED and executive director of the Education & Research Foundation. “The Train-the-Trainer resource is a compilation of feedback from participants and our internal research that shows companies how they can help employees successfully complete EPEC. We want every student to complete this program because more EPEC graduates equal a better, more knowledgeable workforce in electrical distribution.”

EPEC Train-the-Trainer covers everything from selecting the right candidates for the program to examples of how to complete submittal packages. The handbook answers most questions about the program as well as providing ideas for incentives, recognition, and rewards.

EPEC Train-the-Trainer is now available in PDF format to all companies participating in EPEC at no additional charge. To download a copy, go to the “Education” section of www.naed.org. Under the section “Training Products,” click on EPEC Train-the-Trainer. A bound copy can also be purchased for $35. For more information or to order your bound copy, contact the NAED Foundation Service Center at (888) 791-2512 or bwessler@naed.org.
