Online courses cover electricity basics/control products

Sep 1, 2001 12:00 PM

Siemens Energy & Automation Inc., Alpharetta, Ga., has introduced an Internet-based training program for anyone interested in learning about the basics of electricity and standard electrical products.

Intended to serve as an electronic version of the company's “STEP 2000” training program available in print, the first of five “quickSTEP” online training courses can now be accessed on the Siemens Web site at http://www.sea.siemens.com/step. Current selections include Basics of Electricity, Basics of Control Components, Basics of Sensors, Basics of Load Centers and Basics of Safety Switches.

Siemens officials stressed that quickstep is a complementary training method to STEP 2000 and it will continue to offer both. Added features include a pictorial glossary and downloadable PDF files for all STEP 2000 courses. Additional courses will be added in the coming months, eventually spanning the same content as Siemens' STEP 2000 courses.
