OSRAM SYLVANIA RECOGNIZED FOR ENERGY-EFFICIENT PRODUCTS Apr 1, 2004 12:00 PM For the second consecutive year, Osram Sylvania, Danvers, Mass., is recognized for its effort to promote the manufacture of energy-efficient compact fluorescent lighting products. The manufacturer was named an Energy Star Partner of the Year for its outstanding effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by making and promoting energy-efficient products. The company received its award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., March 2. Energy Star spokesperson Richard Karney said, “Osram Sylvania demonstrates a commitment to energy conservation and environmental awareness by designing and manufacturing a wide range of innovative, energy-efficient lighting products. Osram Sylvania continues to lead the effort to educate the public about reducing the use of energy and protecting the environment.” Charlie Jerabek, president and chief executive officer of Osram Sylvania said, “Customers want products that provide value. When you combine the value of energy efficient lighting with the reduced impact on the environment, you have a win-win situation. The Energy Star program offers a platform on which to educate the public about the combined value of saving energy and protecting the environment. We are proud to be recognized with this honor.” Energy Star was introduced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 1992 as a voluntary market-based partnership to reduce air pollution through increased energy efficiency.
