Circuit mapper checks breakers and feeders

The CMT24S circuit mapper system makes it possible for one person to identify which circuit breakers or fuses are feeding specific branch circuits. The mapper is said to test up to 96 branches concurrently, saving time and money over more traditional testers. The transmitter clamp leads send 24 separate digital signals, per transmitter, to live or dead lines with equipment still connected. The receiver digitally indicates the appropriate circuit number when the probe makes contact with an outlet, switch or any other electrical connection. Tasco Inc.

Lighting streamers are reusable

The Budget-Miser (BM-755) lighting streamers suit a range of work sites including construction sites, tunnels, bridges and shipyards. The reusable streamers provide safe, overhead temporary lighting. Sockets, which are spaced at 10-feet intervals with a 5-feet lead and tail, are ruggedly constructed and integrally molded in Hypalon rubber to a heavy-duty SOWA cable. A rubber “O” ring forms a watertight seal around the neck of each bulb, eliminating problems associated with oil, dirt and moisture. The Budget Miser system comes ready to hang and is customizable to any length. Each socket is equipped with a mounting hole for quick and convenient installation. The streamers feature factory-installed NEMA male and female plugs, and can operate with either incandescent or fluorescent-based lamps. Duraline

Tap/splice connector does 600 kcmil

The EZ600 connector is specifically designed for 600 kcmil cable and provides a compact, economical solution to tap or splice this popular wire size. The product eliminates the need to use a larger 750 kcmil split bolt for 600 kcmil cable. It handles a range of wire sizes from 600 kcmil to 2/0 AWG and installs quickly and simply with a single wrench. Greaves

Optical-fiber bracket routes up to eight 3mm cables

The OFB3P-4-19 optical-fiber bracket has four slots for routing up to eight 3mm jacketed fiber cables. It snaps into a board or panel for a secure mechanical mount. It snaps into a 0.187-inch diameter hole in a 0.064-inch maximum thick panel. The bracket also has an anti-rotational pin that requires a 0.125-inch diameter hole, 0.375-inch from center to center of the mounting hole. The part is standard in a V-0 rated flame retardant material. Richco Inc.

F-type coax connect installs simply

The EZ Twist, an F-type coax connector, is said to reduce coax cable termination time. No tools or crimping are required. To terminate, simply twist the connector onto the cable for a secure, high-performance connection. The connector also eliminates screw-on connections to outlets. Push the connector onto an outlet to lock it in place; pull to remove. This feature is ideal in high-intensity installations where space is limited and conventional connectors are difficult to secure to outlets. The Siemon Co.

Insert makes raceway installation a snap

Dubbed the “Potato Chip,” this insert fits into the tee fittings of two-compartment raceways to provide independent pathways for electrical wiring and data/communication cabling. It allows contractors to install two-channel raceway as a vertical drop with the smaller (power) channel on either the right or left. Because it is reversible, the insert accommodates either configuration, enabling wires and cables to be easily fed into horizontal perimeter raceway. The Wiremold Co.

Steel box connectors tilt in and snap down

Available in single-unit and duplex designs with a captive clamp for MC, AC and flex cable to steel boxes, Speedlock connectors speed installations because they snap securely into ½-inch and ¾-inch knockouts, without requiring a locknut. The UL-listed connectors can handle up to 50 cable sizes with just four fitting designs, saving inventory space and costs. The dual-grip clamp is said to ensure excellent ground continuity and holding power. They are suitable as a grounding means under NEC 350-5 and NEC 501-4(b) for hazardous locations. O-Z Gedney

Emergency-notification center is fully supervised

The Millennium System Master is a fully supervised personnel notification control system for both emergency facility evacuations and everyday process control communications. The system is simple to program and operate using a nine-button keypad and an easy-to-read, 40-character LCD display, with Dynamic Zone Control (DZC). DZC enables zone reconfiguration through a series of simple keystrokes without the need for expensive system rewiring. Edwards Signaling

Wire-pulling lubricant now available in handy small bottles

ClearGlide wire-pulling lubricant until now had only been available in relatively large quantities, but now the lubricant also comes in packages of six handy 4-ounce bottles. The smaller bottles are well-suited for small indoor or retrofit jobs where only a dab in the conduit or on the wires is enough to get the job done right without the mess. The lubricant is safe on all cable types and remains stable over a wide range of temperatures. Ideal Industries Inc.

Rod-hanger anchor eases overhead work

The WedgeBolt anchor now comes in a rod-hanger version. The anchors, available in ¼-inch and ⅜-inch diameters, feature an internally-threaded head for respectively-sized rod attachments. All the anchors are installed with a standard ANSI drill bit and are said to achieve higher load capacities at a lower installed cost than traditional methods. Because the hole's diameter is equal to the anchor diameter, no hole spotting is required. This is an added benefit for overhead applications. The versatile anchor is also removable. Power Fasteners

Fire stop has no curing time

The Metraflex MetraSeal 120 is a fast, permanent, fireproof, waterproof, intumescent, mechanical seal that works as a fire stop, filling the gap with a consistently verifiable thickness around any steel, copper tubing, and up to 2-inch PVC/CPVC pipe. Unlike caulk, which can take up to 12 days to cure and meet code, the seal has no curing time, so it meets code the moment it is installed. UL-listed with up to a two-hour fire-protection rating (one-hour rating on PVC/CPVC), it has an intumescent formulation that causes the seal to swell and form a hard, crust-like barrier when exposed to fire, holding back fire and water and helping to minimize damage. The Metraflex Co.
