Reynolds Co. extends Allen-Bradley franchise to Houston and Gulf Coast

By Dale Funk, Contributing Editor

Jan 1, 2003 12:00 PM

The Reynolds Co., Dallas, will take on the Allen-Bradley franchise for additional locations in the Gulf Coast region of Texas and Louisiana.

According to Walt Reynolds, company president, The Reynolds Co. will sell Allen-Bradley products at its existing location in Houston and new locations it will open in Lufkin and Beaumont, Texas; Sulphur/Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and New Orleans, La.

The company has been an Allen-Bradley distributor for 16 years, and recently got the Allen-Bradley Area of Primary Responsibility (APR) for the eight branches in north Texas it acquired from Warren Electric in July. These locations are in Dallas, Longview, Paris, San Antonio, Sherman, Tyler, Wichita Falls and Waco.

In other news at Reynolds, Encompass Services Corp., Houston, now owes The Reynolds Co., Dallas, $4.4 million, not the $8.2 million listed in court documents by the United States Bankruptcy Court in Houston and published in Electrical Wholesaling's last issue, according to Walt Reynolds.

Reynolds said 95 percent of what Encompass, one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States, owes his company is for work backed by surety bonds, and that Reynolds Co. has been issued critical vendor status.

The Reynolds Co. had $95 million in 2001 sales and was ranked the 45th largest distributor in the United States on Electrical Wholesaling's Top 250 listing.
