Simkar LLC, Philadelphia, has reached a tentative agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of CEW Lighting Inc. The transaction is expected to close within the next month.

CEW Lighting, a manufacturer of high intensity discharge (HID) lighting products and components, is located in Memphis, with additional offices and facilities in Dallas and Edison, N.J.

Simkar manufactures and markets fluorescent, exit and emergency and vandal-proof lighting fixtures for commercial, industrial and residential applications through two manufacturing and assembly facilities located in Philadelphia and Las Vegas.

“The potential acquisition of CEW fits well with our strategic growth plan to leverage the strengths of our Simkar business unit by offering more value to distribution for our customers and their customers,” said William Eagle, president and CEO of Simkar.

“Adding such a well-known, complementary line of HID products improves Simkar's visibility at distribution as an independent single-source lighting supplier,” he added.

Peter Roth will continue as president and CEO of CEW Lighting.
