Located near Southwire's headquarters in Carrollton, Ga., a renovated building that once served as the town's city hall is now home for the company's new distributor sales customer service center. Outfitted with state-of-the-art computer technology, including a data warehouse repository of all customer information, the center will provide sales support for all of Southwire's U.S. wire and cable distributors. A group of 65 employees will staff the new facility.

Southwire began work on the building in July 1997, completely renovating the interior while maintaining the structure's historic exterior. In addition to providing more product and technical education to the its sales support staff, the company hopes the new center will help spur business activity to revitalize Carrollton's downtown area. Richard Davis, Southwire's manager of distributor sales, says it's a win-win situation. "We'll be able to provide better service, improve the efficiency of our operations and boost local economic development."
