Sowing Seeds of Knowledge Gail Johnson Aug 1, 1999 12:00 PM Leviton Manufacturing has launched SEED (School for Electronic & Electrical Devices), a new multimedia training program for contractors, distributors and end-user customers. A comprehensive wiring device course in a kit, SEED provides basic training and education for the electrical industry, where newcomers are likely to enter the field without a solid electrical background. Designed to provide students with a technical overview of the subjects, SEED kits are available for self-tutorial or classroom-setting instruction on subjects such as switches, receptacles and GFCIs. Each kit includes a 20-minute videotape and CD-ROM for Windows 95/98 NT covering device descriptions, components, applications and installation; an audio cassette for verbal reinforcement; a technical brochure with a simple overview of the video contents, wiring diagrams, definitions and self-test; plus product samples for hands-on experience.
