Summit Electric Offers Grounding vs. Bonding Seminars

Sep 1, 2005 12:00 PM

To help its electrician customers in New Mexico and Texas, states that require electricians to take continuing education training, Summit Electric Supply is presenting a series of state-approved seminars conducted by Code guru Mike Holt.

During New Mexico's 2003 legislative session, the Legislature enacted House Bill 279, which requires journeymen to complete at least 16 hours of continuing education every three years. This requirement serves to ensure regular training on the National Electrical Code (NEC), which is updated every three years. Eight hours of the required training is on Code-change instructions; eight hours is on other industry-related instruction.

Texas requires its electricians to renew their electrical licenses on an annual basis. In order to renew, the electrician must attend a minimum of four hours of state-approved continued education training. Without this training, an individual's electrical license will not be renewed.

Mike Holt is recognized as one of the nation's most knowledgeable electrical trainers and is a well-respected author and developer of software, books and video training programs. Those attending this high-energy program will learn the basics as well as the advanced concepts necessary to understand the practical grounding and bonding rules in the National Electric Code (NEC) for systems not over 600V. The six Grounding vs. Bonding seminars are taking place in Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas from August through October.

With 19 service centers throughout the Southwest and Gulf-Coast area, Summit Electric Supply is headquartered in Albuquerque, N.M.
