The China Fire Protection Association's (CFPA) Great Wall Friendship Medal and Certificate was awarded to Jim Brown, System Sensor international vice president at the China Fire 2004 trade show reception in Beijing, China, in October 2004.

The award is the highest state-level award in the Chinese fire industry. Criteria for the award include establishing good relations with Chinese fire circles and positive participation in Chinese fire causes and activities.

This is the first time in the CFPA's 20-year history the medal and certificate have been awarded to a foreigner.

Brown has made more than 40 trips to China over the past 10 years, building the awareness of fire prevention and establishing a world-class manufacturing facility.

System Sensor, in a joint venture agreement, has been manufacturing commercial fire notification products in China for 10 years. It opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Xi'an, China, last year.

The Xi'an facility incorporates the same automated manufacturing equipment and processes used in System Sensor's facilities in St. Charles, Ill.; and Juarez, Mexico.

System Sensor, a division of Honeywell, is a global manufacturer of fire detection and notification devices, specializing in smoke detection and notification technology.
