Maryland-based DeWalt Power Tools wants to give away $1 million to America's fastest cordless drill-slinger in a nationwide contest called “The Million Dollar Challenge.” The company is partnering with tool distributors across the country for the promotion.

The challenge is to drive five screws flush into a piece of wood as quickly as possible with a DeWalt 14.4-volt cordless drill. A fleet of DeWalt's specially outfitted “Million Dollar Challenge” vehicles are visiting hundreds of supply houses, tool dealers, home centers and job sites to hold local qualifying contests.

Local winners with the fastest times earn prizes and move on to regional contests where they can win a new 2003 Chevy Express van filled with DeWalt tools. The top 16 regional winners advance to the finals in November when they will compete against each other for the title of America's fastest screwdriver and the chance to beat the clock on live television for $1 million.
