Warshauer Provides Solar Power in Piscataway

Dec 1, 2010 12:00 PM

Warshauer Energy Solutions, a unit of Warshauer Electric Supply, Tinton Falls, N.J., has been working to develop an expertise in solar projects. The company provided 400 roof-mounted photovoltaic panels from Evergreen Solar to power the Township of Piscataway's Public Works offices and maintenance yard. The site is now partly powered by the sun, saving tax dollars, reducing fossil-fuel dependence and creating a cleaner environment, said an article on local website MyCentralJersey.com.

The town cut its payment for the equipment with federal stimulus grants. A $528,000 grant enabled Piscataway to buy the panels and have them installed without additional debt.

“This will contribute toward saving almost 25 percent of the operating costs of the building with a projected savings of $61,000 a year,” Wahler said in the article.
