Contracting conglomerate Emcor Group Inc., Norwalk, Conn., expects its 2008 sales to be in the range of $6.8 billion to $7 billion, instead of the $6.3 billion to $6.5 billion estimate it provided investment analysts earlier this year.

As one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States, the company's 2007 revenues from electrical construction and maintenance projects were approximately $1.4 billion. Electrical work accounted for approximately 24 percent of its total revenues last year, and Frank MacInnis, the company's chairman and CEO, expects its electrical business to be strong again in 2008.

“We expect the revenues and earnings momentum that we experienced in our record first quarter to be sustainable over the course of the year as solid order activity continues to support a strong contract backlog,” he said. “Our diversified business model is driving our performance with significant participation in such growth sectors as health care, industrial, wastewater treatment and transportation.

“Additionally, we continue to see strong execution across our construction and services operations with fluid integration of our recent acquisitions and improving international results, especially in the U.K.”

EMCOR Group Inc. focuses on mechanical and electrical construction services, energy infrastructure and facilities services in new construction and maintenance work. Electrical Construction and Maintenance magazine ranked Emcor as the second-largest electrical contractor in the United States in its 2007 Top 50 Contractors listing.
