Hughes Supply, Inc., Orlando, Fla., through a merger deal with Winn-Lange Electric, Inc., Houston, Texas, is moving to establish a foothold in the Texas market. Winn-Lange will become Hughes' first electrical distribution presence in the state.

The deal gives Winn-Lange more resources to invest in pursuit of statewide growth, said Larry Lange, former co-owner of Winn-Lange Electric and now Hughes Supply's district manager for Texas. "I think when you have the resources and the strength that they (Hughes Supply) have it will allow me to be more aggressive and speed up growth plans... As a privately held corporation, we had to take baby steps. I hope this will allow us to attain our goals a little quicker."

The Winn-Lange management, including Lange and Griffin Winn, will continue to manage the operations. Hughes Supply said it doesn't anticipate any personnel changes. The locations will continue to operate under the Winn-Lange name for awhile, but Lange said he expects it to change eventually to Hughes Supply.
