Two large central Pennsylvania electrical distributors-Schaedler Brothers, Inc. and York Electrical Supply Co. (YESCO)-have merged their family-owned companies to take advantage of size efficiencies, similarities in product lines and complementary market areas. Schaedler Brothers has a majority share in the new company, Schaedler/YESCO Distribution. James Schaedler will become president.

The resulting company would have annual sales revenues of more than $70 million through five locations and about 180 employees. Both companies specialize in the industrial market and are distributors for many of the same product lines, including Allen-Bradley Co., Milwaukee, Wis. The merger would give the new company control of Allen-Bradley's Areas of Primary Responsibility (APRs) for central Pennsylvania.

The merged company also plans to seek out companies in other industries for potential mergers. "Our strategy is simple: Get our customers everything they need efficiently through one supply channel," said Jeffrey Livingston, president of YESCO, who will become an advisor to the board of Schaedler/YESCO Distribution.
