NEMA endorses IDEA as sole preferred source for member company product data

Nov. 12, 2013

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), Rosslyn, Va., recognized the Industry Data Exchange Association’s (IDEA) recent milestone accomplishments during its annual meeting, Illuminations Weekend, held Nov.  8-9. IDEA provides timely, synchronized manufacturer-supplied product data for the electrical products supply channel.

NEMA said in a press release that during 2013 IDEA dramatically increased the volume of marketing data in its Industry Data Warehouse (IDW). The IDW now includes more than 325,000 products each with manufacturers’ specification sheets, attributes, images, and product descriptions. In addition, list price, considered essential to compete for government and other large contracts, is populated for more than 91% of active products in the IDW data synchronization platform. New tools have been added to improve product data from manufacturers at the source, including a normalizing tool to reduce data inconsistences for distributors that will enable rapid integration of data into distributors’ electronic storefronts.
