WESCO International Inc., Pittsburgh, was awarded a five-year contract with The Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCPN) for MRO services and supplies. TCPN is a national governmental purchasing cooperative that has contracts with national vendors for such commonly purchased products and services as furniture, office supplies and equipment, security systems, technology, and other goods and services.

The new contract, which went into effect April 1, significantly expands the number of products available through TCPN, and creates new opportunities for WESCO to work with a range of government related agencies, including K-12 schools, cities and municipalities, both private and state colleges and universities, private and charter schools, religious organizations and charities. In addition, TCPN members have access to WESCO’s Value Creation program, which helps organizations reduce supply chain costs, improve efficiencies, and achieve sustainability goals.

“WESCO’s value proposition and dedication to the public sector will provide significant opportunities for participating agencies to save both time and money,” says Chris Penny, Vice President, TCPN.

WESCO promotes itself as one of only a few companies in the industry that has a dedicated government team with a sub-team focused on the needs of the state and local governments and education (SLED) market. With an average 11 years of experience per member, WESCO’s SLED sub-team has the in-depth knowledge to navigate the complexities of the purchasing process and address the continuing pressures to assist the SLED market.

“WESCO is honored that TCPN chose to award us with this national contract. Drawing on our focused expertise and resources, our SLED team is committed to helping government and education customers with their unique business needs,” said Rob Bezjak, WESCO’s SLED general manager.
