WAC Lighting, Garden City, N.Y., is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2009. Tony and Tai Wang started the firm in 1984, marketing portable lamps at trade shows across the United States, and have grown it into a well-regarded manufacturer and designer of track, recessed, undercabinet, monorail and decorative lighting.

In recounting its history, the company recalled some highlights:

• It developed its first national sales force in 1993, and opened a showroom in the Dallas Market Center the same year.

• Published its first catalog in 1994.

• Opened its first West Coast offices and distribution facilities in 1997.

• Opened its first China-based production facilities in Dongguan in 1997. (It achieved ISO 9001 registration two years later.)

• In 2004 Shelley Wang, daughter of the founders, joined the firm.

• Established W2 Architectural Lighting to serve specification-grade markets in 2007.

• Opened a new 750,000-square-foot production campus in Dongguan in 2007.

Last month, Shelley Wang was named president of the company.
