As one of the members of the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), St. Louis, Mo., closest to the recovery efforts in Manhattan, David Weinstein, general manager of Kennedy Electric Supply Corp. in Jamaica, N.Y., is working with NAED to relay the needs of rescue workers in New York to the association.

He is requesting an immediate response to an urgent call for supplies. According to an item posted on Sept. 20 on the Industrial Distribution Web site, Weinstein says the rescuers have an urgent need for the following supplies:

-Sawzalls and Sawzall blades for metal (6” and 8”)

-Aviation snips, tin snip scissors

-Large bolt cutters & large rebar cutters

-Walkie-talkies in sets of two

-Bandsaws & bandsaw blades

-Heavy-duty work gloves (leather)

-Respirators with filters

-Heavy-duty extension cords

If you can supply anything on the above list, please do so to help the efforts of the rescue workers. To make a contribution, send items for next day air delivery to: Kennedy Electric Supply Corp., 221-18 Merrick Blvd, Jamaica, NY, 11413-2016.

Kennedy Electric Supply Corp. will get the materials to the workers who need them. Supplies are needed as soon as possible, so please respond promptly.

Kennedy Electrical Supply Corp. workers were on-site providing emergency supplies shortly after the September 11 attacks at the World Trade Center. The company's Manhattan branch is just a few blocks from Ground Zero.
