Equity Electrical Associates Inc., East Walpole, Mass., presented the following awards at its annual meeting this spring.

Vendor awards, which measure overall supplier performance and distributor satisfaction, were divided into five separate categories and were distributed as follows:

Merchandise Award: Ideal Industries, Milwaukee Tool, NSI and RAB

Product Award: Arlington Industries, Hubbell Electrical Products, Intermatic and RAB

Administration Award: NSA, EGS Electrical, Osram/Sylvania, NSI and Sea Gull Lighting

Delivery Award: Allied Tube, Cooper Wiring Devices, Panduit and Senator Wire

Marketing Award: Arlington Industries, FCI Burndy, Ideal Industries and Intermatic

The recipient of Equitys' Lifetime Achievement Award was Vincent A. Rego, chairman of the board, Encore Wire & Cable, McKinney, Texas. The Equity Sales Champion Award went to Tom Gilmore of Gulf States Electrical Sales, Baton Rouge, La.

In addition, Equity presented the James Hennessy Award of Excellence to one distributor and one member for the year 2002. Arlington Industries was recognized for the “best overall distributor performance.” Sunray Electric Supply, McKeesport, Pa., was honored as “most supportive member overall.”

Other top Equity performers were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the organization in terms of sales growth and support. Those who made the Honor Roll for Supplier Support were members who achieved superior sales growth and supported the largest number of Equity Associated Suppliers: Nichols Electric Supply, Haubstadt, Iowa; Royal Electric Supply, Philadelphia, Pa.; Superior Electric Supply, Concord, Calif.; and Yale Electric Supply, Dorchester, Mass.

Those who were awarded the Circle of Excellence demonstrated the highest overall sales growth through Equity: Green Mountain Electric Supply, Newport, Vt.; Priester Supply, The Woodlands, Texas; St. Mary's Lighting & Electric Supply, Lexington, Md.; and Valley Electric Supply, East Middlebury, Vt.

Equity Electrical Associates recently merged with Electrical Distributors Network Inc. (EDN), Concord, Ohio, into a new organization with a combined membership of about 1,000 companies with a total of 1,150 locations.

The two entities — Equity and EDN — will remain as separate operating divisions, maintaining existing company names, personnel, boards of directors, earning schedules and payment procedures.

The merger of the two buying/marketing groups forms a $6 billion-plus network. An estimated 80 percent of the sales volume of the combined entities is derived from the same manufacturers.
