The LFI Innovation Awards were awarded on May 28 at this year's LightFair conference and exhibition in Las Vegas. Sponsored by Architectural Lighting magazine and eLumit.com, the award competition received 184 submissions.

The 2008 LFI Innovation Award winners chosen for exemplifying the best in innovative design and thinking were:

Most Innovative Product of the Year. SPOT Version 4.0 from California Energy Commission.

Design Excellence Award. Direct Burial Series from Q-Tran Inc.

Technical Innovation Award. Sylvania PowerSHED High Efficiency Demand Response Ballast from Osram Sylvania.

Judges’ Citation Award. Haiku Chandelier from Strini Art Glass/Lighting. This award recognized the use of recycled material in lighting design.

Judges’ Citation Award. Solar Area Lighting Solution from Carmanah Technologies. This award recognized efforts to optimize renewable energy in lighting. For a list of this year’s LFI Category winners, click here.
